The Manliest of Men

He was by the measure of many the manliest man in existence.
He feared nothing,
Felt no pain,
Courted many women,
Was a bachelor for life.
He gave no attention to the weak.
If something didn't go his way he forced it to.
He was never wrong.
He didn't waste his time talking about feelings.
Spent his time proving his strength,
Impressing his friends,
And could handle the strongest of drinks.
He was accountable to no one.
He let women know their place.

Yes, the manliest of men...
By the standard of fools.

Because he did have fears,
But didn't have courage to admit and face them.
He did feel pain,
But cowardly feared he would be judged for feeling it.
He did court many women,
But didn't ever respect one enough to see her value.
He was a bachelor for life,
But was always having to cover his miserable loneliness.
He did feel strong by looking down on the weak,
But missed the opportunity to learn compassion.
He imposed his will on others,
But only because he was too mentally weak to win support.
He was never wrong,
Because everyone around him had decided he wasn't worth arguing with.
He was too cool to share his feelings,
Because he suppressed his true self and had fake friends to maintain.
He proved his physical strength at every opportunity,
To cover up his puny little heart.
He impressed his friends,
...the ones that liked the false image he created of himself.
And he could handle the strongest of drinks,
Because a man is apparently defined by a beverage.
He was accountable to no one...
Because not being himself he really had nothing to contribute anyway.
He did let women know their place,
And any self respecting woman knew that place was far from him.

He was a fraud as he never let himself out...
And although his "friends" would say otherwise,
The manliest man wasn't a man at all.
